Invisible armour

Paint Protection Film

A self-healing TPU shield that takes the stone chips, grit and car-park scars your paint would otherwise wear forever.

  • 7 years warranty

In short

DRESDEN paint protection film is a 215 µm thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) layer bonded over your factory paint. It absorbs stone chips, road grit and wash marks, heals its own light scratches with heat, and is backed for 7 years against yellowing, cracking and lifting.

The detail

German engineered protection

Paint is the thinnest, most expensive surface on a modern car — often less than 120 micrometres of clear coat standing between a five-figure respray and the motorway. DRESDEN Paint Protection Film puts a second, sacrificial surface on top of it: 215 µm of optically clear thermoplastic polyurethane that takes the hit instead.

The film is engineered in Germany and cut on a plotter from a verified pattern for your exact chassis, so edges tuck behind panel gaps rather than stopping in the middle of a wing. Where a pattern does not exist, our installers hand-trim on the vehicle — a slower, more demanding method that leaves no visible seam on complex bumpers and wide-arch bodywork.

Under the surface, an elastomeric top coat lets the material flow back into itself. Swirl marks and fingernail scratches disappear with warm water or a heat gun, and the hydrophobic finish keeps brake dust, tree sap and winter salt sitting on top of the film rather than etching into your clear coat.

What you get

Four properties that matter on the road

Heat self-healing

Light swirls and wash marks close up on their own with warm water, sunlight or a heat gun. The finish resets instead of degrading.

Hydrophobic top coat

Water beads and sheets away, carrying road film with it. Insects, sap and salt release with a rinse instead of a polish.

Anti-yellowing ΔE ≤ 2

UV-stable chemistry keeps white and silver bodywork honest. No amber cast creeping in around the third summer.

400 % elongation

ASTM D882-rated stretch lets a single sheet wrap a compound-curved bumper without relief cuts or stress lines.

Full FAQ

DRESDEN paint protection film carries a 7-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, lifting and delamination. In practice, a well-maintained installation on a garaged car regularly passes ten years. Cars left outdoors year-round in strong UV sit at the lower end of that range.

Yes, within limits. The elastomeric top coat re-flows with heat, so swirl marks, wash marks and light fingernail scratches close up under warm water, direct sunlight or a heat gun. Damage that has cut through the film to the adhesive layer will not heal — that is the film having done its job instead of your paint.

No. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is engineered to release with heat and leave no residue. Factory paint that has spent years under film is normally in better condition than the panels around it, because it has been shielded from UV, abrasion and chemical fallout the whole time.

Absolutely, and most of the cars we film are not new. We inspect the paint first and correct it where needed — film is optically clear, so anything left underneath is sealed in and magnified. If a panel has been resprayed, we need it to have fully cured, which typically means 30 days after the respray.

It depends on how the car is used. Roughly 90 % of stone chip damage arrives on the front bumper, bonnet leading edge, wings, mirrors and headlamps, which is why the Front Impact package exists. Cars that see motorway miles or track weekends benefit from rocker panels and rear arches. Full body is the right answer for collector cars and anything with paint that is expensive to replicate.
