In short

Colour-change film is a cast vinyl wrap applied over your existing paint to change the vehicle’s colour or finish. It is fully reversible: the factory paint underneath is preserved and protected, and the film can be removed years later without damaging the original surface.

The detail

A new colour, on a timer you control

A respray is a one-way decision. Film is not. DRESDEN colour-change film lets you put a satin graphite, a deep candy red or a shifting chrome-violet on the car this year and return it to factory silver before you sell it — with the original paint underneath in better condition than the day the film went on.

We use cast PVC, not calendered. Cast film is manufactured in a stable, stress-free state, which is why it conforms to a mirror housing or a diffuser fin and stays there instead of slowly shrinking back and lifting at the corners. Air-release channels in the adhesive let our installers set a full bonnet without a single trapped bubble.

Every panel we can safely remove comes off: handles, badges, lamp units, mirror caps, spoilers. The film is wrapped around the edge and bonded on the reverse, so there is no visible cut line on the visible face of the car. That is the difference between a wrap that reads as a colour and one that reads as a wrap.

What you get

Four properties that matter on the road

200+ finishes

Gloss, satin, matte, metallic, brushed, forged carbon and colour-shift — plus custom printed film for one-off liveries.

Fully reversible

Heat-assisted removal lifts the film cleanly. Factory paint is preserved, so the car’s value and history stay intact.

Protects while it styles

The film takes UV, light abrasion and wash marks. Paint under a wrap typically comes back brighter than the untouched panels.

Wrapped edges

Parts come off the car and the film wraps behind them. No cut lines on show surfaces, no lifting corners in the third winter.

Common questions

About colour-change film

Twenty answers across every service live on the FAQ page, including warranty terms and aftercare.

Full FAQ

Cast wrap film is warranted for 5 years. Vertical panels such as doors and wings typically outlast horizontal ones, because bonnets and roofs take the full UV and heat load. Keeping the car garaged or coated over the film extends the life considerably.

In most jurisdictions a significant colour change must be declared to your insurer and recorded on the vehicle registration. We provide documentation of the finish and coverage; confirming the requirement is the owner’s responsibility and it takes one phone call.

Chips, yes — we fill and level them first, otherwise the film telegraphs every one. Peeling clear coat or failing paint, no. Wrap film adheres to the top layer of whatever it is applied to; if that layer is already lifting, the film will pull it off on removal. We will inspect and tell you honestly before quoting.
